Remote Valve Operator

For Remote Operation of higher Valve Torque applications with a shaft length of up to 24 metre shafts with a choice of 250mm / 400mm Operator Handwheels. The system has the benefit of 9:1, 23:1 and 59:1 Valve Gearbox Options with a Position Indicator and Handwheel Gearbox as standard. A choice of Valve Handwheel Couplings is available to suit the Valve being used.

Operate a Valve from a Distance

ValveFlex Geared allows a manual valve to be operated from a separate handwheel position through a geared flexible mechanical drive. Routed lengths of up to 24 metres are supported, subject to correct selection.

Operate Valves in Restricted Locations

The operating handwheel can be positioned away from a valve that is difficult to reach. The complete access and safety arrangement must be assessed for the installation.

Route Through Walls and Floors

The flexible drive can follow a suitable route through walls, floors or equipment where direct access to the valve is restricted.

Operate Submerged Valves

ValveFlex can be considered for remote manual operation of a submerged valve, subject to review of the route, materials, coupling and operating conditions.

Geared system performance
To select the correct Geared ValveFlex System Solution you will need to know:
  • The Valve Maximum operating torque. If you do not know the torque, an estimate is used based on the valve handwheel size
  • The routed distance between the valve and the selected operating position
  • The type of valve being used to enable selection of the correct type of valve coupling

Use the valve torque and routed length to select the appropriate valve gearbox ratio from the graph.

Select the appropriate valve coupling for the valve type.

Example: a gate valve with a 100 Nm opening torque and a 20-metre routed length requires a 23:1 valve gearbox ratio.

  • Choice of Valve Gearboxes – 9:1, 23:1 and 59:1
  • Choice of Handwheels – 250mm and 400mm
  • Position Indicator and Handwheel Gearbox as standard
  • Both ends of the flexible shaft have a bulkhead connection to enable it to be secured. (Fixing Brackets can be supplied by Fairport
  • Highly durable rubber outer casing
  • Bi-directional flexible shaft
  • Stainless Steel fittings on the Inner Core and Outer Casing for greater longevity in difficult conditions.
