A flexible shaft can simplify a difficult mechanical route and reduce the need for multiple exposed transmission components. Standard and bespoke TorqFlex assemblies are available.
TorqFlex shafts can transmit power to a driven component that moves during operation or is positioned around a corner or inside machinery. Direction of rotation, torque, speed, length and bends must all be considered during selection.
Standard TorqFlex ball-bearing units are available in a range of sizes with bored couplings and set-screw retention. Each assembly is enclosed in a suitable casing and lubricated during manufacture.
Direction of rotation for unidirectional flexible shafts
The wire lay indicates the intended direction of rotation. When the core is held vertically, wires slanting down to the right indicate a right-hand core; wires slanting down to the left indicate a left-hand core.
Bidirectional shafts are designed to transmit useful torque in both directions where reversible rotation is required.
Care and maintenance: follow the published lubrication interval for the selected assembly. For the current standard product, remove and clean the core before applying a suitable petroleum-based grease rated for the stated operating temperature range.
